This cabin may not be in the woods, but it's still pretty cool. Dubbed Lucid Stead, the 70-year-old cabin got the royal treatment in October 2013 at the hands of artist Phillip K Smith III. Smith added mirrored rectangles instead of windows and doors, and combined with horizontal panels, the cabin almost disappears during the daytime. At night, the cabin lights up with a series of LED lights that glow in the otherwise empty landscape. And while we suppose "cabin" is still the correct terminology to describe this artistic outpost, don't expect ski-in/ski-out; the nearest ski area (Big Bear) is 37 miles away.
