Location: Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Price: $4,799,000
The Skinny: Just over a year ago, the agent who brokered the last purchase of this South Florida home trumpeted his client's undying love for the glassy manse in an interview with a local business mag, declaring that, in essence, the buyer found it to be basically the best house EVER. "He's very astute. He recognizes quality construction and the upkeep. This is not a spec home. This is a custom home," said the broker. So it was love—love!—at first sight. But now, sadly (predictably?), the bloom is off and the client whose satisfaction once seemed so total has heaved the home and its decorative Vans-laden shoe tree on the market with an asking price of $4.799M. Also, irony alert: the original buyer's broker is now the listing agent, an arrangement that might seem awkward in any other business than real estate. The five-bedroom, six-and-a-half bathroom manse comes with a heated saltwater pool with waterfall, a Viking kitchen, and floor finishes of Brazilian ebony, limestone, and glass. Though it's in Fort Lauderdale, the next owner will have to be satisfied with the ocean views from the upper terraces, as the home is on a dry lot across the street from the beach.
