The world's first geodesic dome home, a half-orb made from 60 triangle-shaped panels, will be restored and preserved as a museum in Carbondale, Ill. American architect Buckminster Fuller and his wife, Lady Anne, built it in the '60s during Fuller's residency at the Southern Illinois University, which is taking on the restoration. The dome was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006. [Arch Daily]
