Location: Uluwatu, Bali
Hotel Name: Alila Villas
The Skinny: This unbelievably beautiful clifftop hotel on the coast of Bali is not only truly stunning, it's also constructed entirely of reclaimed materials, making it the first Indonesian hotel to be EarthCheck certified as a Best Practice Building Planning and Design development. Which is awesome, but honestly Alila Villas is all about the dramatic design by Singaporean firm WOHA, whose other works include the Newton Suites and The Met tower in Bangkok, both of which received Emporis Skyscraper Awards medals. Working here on a lower density scale, they've created a resort that consists of 64 one- and three-bedroom villas arranged along the edge of a seaside cliff, each with a private pool, indoor/outdoor rain shower, and views of the Indian Ocean. The three-bedroom villas offer the full luxury experience starting at $3,800 a night, a price that includes the services of a two personal butlers, free car service with driver, and a "Complimentary My Cocktail Bar which includes gin, vodka, whisky, rum, mixers, glassware and ice, set up in the villa, replenished daily."
