The Skinny: It's always kind of a red flag for a listing when most of the photos are of beautiful exteriors and lovely surrounding scenery. The viewer is left to click through a series of inoffensive, artfully composed aerial views and shots of the landscaping, the anticipation (dread, even) ratcheting up with each passing image until finally, begrudgingly, the broker reveals the dark interior design secret at the heart of the house. And so it is for Louwana, a typically striking Addison Mizner design in Palm Beach, Fla., whose gleaming stucco walls and graceful arches feature in photo after photo until, at long last, the eye-searing barrage of floral patterns and porcelain knickknacks begins. And then there's the art. Interior design choices aside (those blue walls!), the grand home has seemingly been well tended over the last century, which stands to reason as the same family has owned Louwana since its construction in 1919. The 12-bedroom, 12-bathroom oceanfront home is asking $22M, which represents a PriceChop of $8M since it first hit the market in 2008.
