Have a nomination for a jaw-dropping listing that would make a mighty fine House of the Day? Get thee to the tipline and send us your suggestions. We'd love to see what you've got.

Location: Stinson Beach, Calif.
Price: $2,250,000
The Skinny: Northern Californian down to its bones, this waterfront home in oh-so-crunchy Marin County represents an rough-hewn strain of Rustic Modern that's highly unlikely to ever grace the pages of Dwell, but perfect for the place and time it inhabits. Designed by Michael Mitchell—whose website informs us is "also a watercolor artist and has a fun and generous spirit" with an email address that starts with the handle "surfmitchell"—the home puts the focus firmly on the light and the views, with a high-ceilinged great room supported by arched wooden trusses and exposed beams, and encircled by clerestory windows. The décor (including the weirdly monolithic concrete fireplace) is sort of all over the place, but the three-bedroom home comes off as a laid-back, comfortable place to hang out with family and friends. Which is kind of the point of a home, even one that's asking $2.25M! It can be okay to have a kitchen that's not quite chef-ready, or bookshelves that prominently feature a cassette tape player that may or may not be playing Joni Mitchell's "Song to a Seagull" on auto-repeat. Not all the time, but sometimes. Sometimes you just have to let your house's freak flag fly.
