Residents of the small town of Thompson, Conn. are wondering why the William H. Mason House, a Gothic Revival landmark that dates back to 1845, is in worse shape now than when design superstar Mario Buatta bought it in 1992. Citing complaints from "several local residents and elected officials," the state historic preservation officer sent a letter to the ever-quotable Prince of Chintz about his "plans for the property and its maintenance."
