Mashpee Mediterranean Mishmash Returns, Now Wants $1.6M

Back in 1985, someone in Mashpee built themselves a rather un-Cape-like residence, at least architecturally speaking. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but finding a "discerning buyer" has clearly not been easy.

"Reminiscent of the architecture of luxurious villas on the Mediterranean coast, this unique home has breathtaking views of Popponesset Bay and the Santuit River." Yup, the casa is undeniably unique. The 3,136 square footer is spread over five levels and, thankfully, features an elevator. In addition, the 4BR, 3.5BA comes with a library/home office, custom cabinetry in the kitchen, a state-of-the-art home theater, and marble, stone and wood finishes galore. The listing first appeared on the market in June 2012 looking for $2,400,000, but was taken off by November. In May 2013, a new broker listed the place for $1,949,000. An August meeting with the PriceChopper brought the ask down to $1,899,000. The .57 acre listing kept that price tag through December until heading off the market for a winter break (to the actual Mediterranean, no doubt). Yesterday, a third broker listed the mishmash property for $1,595,000.
