Thought Experiments

The 10 finalists for the Rebuild By Design competition were unveiled last week, each with a different plan for bolstering the resilience of NYC's low-laying regions against rising water levels and future storms. The selected proposals, one of which will net its creators "a slice of the federal government's $4 billion disaster-recovery pie," include chains of barrier islands, huge blockades, and an OMA-designed plan to remake Hoboken's waterfront.
