Park City's High West as Seen from Google's Time Traveler

High West Distillery & Saloon, 2007 to 2011

Google just announced that their popular Street View photo collections are now available back to 2007, creating digital time capsules of ski towns everywhere. Seven years might not seem like that long ago, but it's long enough to provide historic photos of places like High West Distillery & Saloon, one of Park City's best drinking holes. The Google cam strolled by the (nearly) ski-in/ski-out saloon at 703 Park Ave three times since 2007, capturing the before, during, and after photos of High West's construction. Come take a look at the transformation.

↑ This Google street view from July 2007 (only a few months after Google launched the project) shows the current High West Distillery buildings before construction. The house on the left, built in 1914, is one of Park City's only two-story, Victorian-style pyramid houses. The National Garage on the right was built as a livery stable for the workhorses that pulled heavy carts to the mines. Just to the right of the garage, you can see Park City Mountain Resort's iconic Town Lift.

↑ The next time Google paid a visit to downtown Park City, in September 2009, construction for High West was well under way. In fact, the distillery's grand opening was just a few months later on November 20, 2009.

↑ This Google street view from March 2011 shows the High West Distillery & Saloon in all its renovated glory. Besides a kickass bar, restaurant, and gift shop, visitors can also check out the distillery's 250-gallon copper pot still.

↑ Finally, here's a non-Google photo of the High West buildings, courtesy of High West.
