The wartime drumbeat surrounding Frank Gehry's controversial Eisenhower Memorial has now reached a deafening clamor as opponents, invigorated by favorable battles (in which congress rejected the budget and the Eisenhower family described the memorial as like "chain-link fences at a Nazi concentration camp") close in. The latest victory: the National Capital Planning Commission voted 7-3 to "oppose the current design." Seems Gehry will have to make even more changes to the proposal. [AP; previously]
