Donald Wexler's Movie Star-Commissioned Home Asks $2.295M

New, 1 comment

Marking West Coast modernist Donald Wexler's first residential commission as an independent architect, this $2.295M single-story home offers a pleasingly retro, if meticulously updated, little property in Palms Springs, Calif. Built in 1954 for actress Andrea Leeds and her husband Robert Howard—who (fun fact!) owned the famed racehorse Seabiscuit—the so-called Leeds-Howard House is centered around a "resort-sized swimming pool," that's accessible from all four glass-walled bedroom suites. Just a few of the swanky new additions to the 3,777-square-foot home include a wet bar, "onyx poured terrazzo," a state-of-the-art kitchen, and "custom virgin New Zealand wool rugs." Outside, there's a terrace with a custom built-in barbecue, a patio devoted to hammocks, a putting green, and a large outdoor lanai equipped with a rotisserie and citrus and rose gardens.
