Looking for adventure of the backcountry or culinary kind? Aspen Alpine Guides has developed two new initiatives with these pastimes in mind. Whole Journeys, Whole Foods' new travel company, is working with the outfitter to offer three-day Aspen Hiking and Tasting Tour that include visits to regional producers like Avalanche Cheese Company, Woody Creek Distillers, and a BBQ at T-Lazy-7 Ranch. In between, you'll tackle Mt. Elbert and portions of Buckskin Pass (options for novice hikers are offered on all trips).
Leave the Boys Behind is a women's program that launched in January. Avalanche courses, year-round hut-to-hut trips; Intro to Mountaineering and 14'er Summit courses; single-day hikes, and Moab bike-and-climb excursions are managed, organized, and led by professional female guides and instructors contracted by Aspen Alpine Guides. Outdoorsy ladies of all ages and skill levels are welcome. New to altitude? No problem- try the High Altitude Primer course.
