Inkwell Wire

"Angry about the dredge spoils that were placed on Inkwell Beach in February to stem the erosion from a turbulent winter, a small but vociferous group of Oak Bluffs residents staged a protest at the beach on Monday, demanding action by town officials. The protesters stopped the raking and dispersal of the material by Watercourse Construction of Vineyard Haven." The powers-that-be had hoped that the goo would have bleached out by summer, but no such luck. To top it off, warmer temperatures have turned the place into a stinkwell with "a distinctly foul bouquet." The people power paid off by Tuesday night when selectmen announced that the crap would be removed from the Inkwell. [Martha's Vineyard Times; The Inkwell image via Wikipedia]
