The Curbed Ski Guide to Memorial Day Weekend Madness

Hello, holiday weekend! Curbed Ski knows that all y'all are gearing up to hit the road this Memorial Day, so don't forget that we have the lowdown on what's happening in ski towns across the country, as well as guides on where to eat, drink, play outdoors, chill out, and more.

As the official kick-off to summer season, it's only natural that you'll want to satisfy your pent-up jones for hiking, biking, or paddling. That said, there's still skiing and riding at some resorts, thanks to an higher-than-average snowpack. Aspen Mountain just announced it will reopen for the weekend, while other ski spots nationwide can be found here.

All that activity is going to leave you both thirsty and famished. Whether you're a beer-hound, wine, or whiskey aficionado, there's a dive bar, distillery, or swanky hotel bar with your name on it.

Perhaps it's best to line your stomach before the combo of altitude and alcohol kicks your butt. Ski towns, of course, aren't inexpensive, but regardless of your budget, there's great food to be had. We've got the best fancypants places for drinks or dinner with a view, as well as delish Mexican (and the attendant margaritas), slices, sammies, and other fast-casual fare.

If you need to quell that hangover or just want to keep things low-key for the weekend, how 'bout a high-altitude-tailored spa treatment? If reading is your thing, there are plenty of outstanding ski town libraries and bookstores in which to spend some quality down time (many have cool kid's programs, too).
