In a move the Times is calling a "striking about-face," Manhattan's keystone public library (the big, pretty one) has abandoned its Norman Foster-prescribed renovations. The mindboggling proposal to revamp the landmarked building faced opposition by the community, Curbed NY writes, plus there were four lawsuits filed against the renovation, which was estimated to cost—probably the most potent reason for its dismissal—$300M.
