Former Nantucket Candle Factory Sells for Over $1 Million

It was just a few short weeks ago that we wrote about 1 High Street, calling it one of the most unique listings on the Cape and Islands. Since the Nantucket abode spent just 46 days on the market before changing hands, we're sticking with that assessment.

Although it apparently can't be verified, the circa 1800 "building is believed to have once been a candle factory." Good enough for us. Regardless, the 1,575-square-footer is now a 3BD, 2BA chock full of original details. The antique lean-to sits on a .05 acre corner lot "moments to Main Street" and first hit the market in June 2012 asking $1,295,000. An October pricechop brought the ask down to $1,150,000, but a buyer was nowhere to be found and the listing was removed by January 2013. Fast forward to mid-April 2014 and the listing returned looking for $1,195,000. Clearly, that was the magic number and a buyer picked up 1 High Street for $1,090,000.
