Geneva Meets Africa in This Nutso 'Outdoor-Oriented' House

Though it's spectacularly hard to tell from the exterior, this spiky pile of black and white boxes is actually a lake house and personal office, settled right on the water in Geneva, Switzerland. Designed in collaboration between local firm SRA Kössler & Morel Architects and Cape Town-based practice SAOTA, the so-called "luscious cocoon" is meant to channel the design team's "new African aesthetic in a European context," which apparently translates to a whole lot of curved walls, a canopied, overhanging roof, and an entire face of the home made from windows. In an effort to keep the separation between indoors and outdoors at a minimum, the glassy interior living room extends right out onto a lake-facing patio with an infinity pool and a rather impractical submerged dining area. See a few more shots, below, then head over to Freshome for the entire thing.
