Post-and-Beam 'Modernist Dream' in Pasadena Wants $1.7M

Take note, mid century modern fans, because this Pasadena, Calif., home designed by L.A.-based Douglas Byles and Eugene Weston III just hit the market for $1.698M, offering a veritable grand slam of post-and-beam architectural details. Featured in the May 1950 issue of Arts & Architecture, the three-bedroom, 2,760-square-foot pad sprawls across a single floor and centers around a saltwater pool with a spa. Thanks to walls of glass, clerestory windows, and a surrounding zen garden with koi ponds, the space seems sunny, open, and, in the words of the brokerbabble, not unlike a "modernist dream" of "privacy and serenity."
