Idyllic Robert A.M. Stern Design in the Hamptons Asks $27.5M

New, 9 comments

A Hamptons residence this pristinely shingled, lawned, and daffodil'd can only come from starchitect Robert A.M. Stern, the country's preeminent traditionalist once called "the Ralph Lauren of architecture" and the "suede-loafered sultan of suburban retrotecture." Because of his noted ability to bring "classicism into the public realm," Stern designs don't come cheap, and this idyllic residence in Water Mill, N.Y. up for $27.5M is no exception. The residence itself boasts 6,100 square feet of double-height entryways, elevators, and direct bay front views and its 4.5 acres are populated by things like a sunken all-weather tennis court, a Gunite pool, and a gala of daffodils to make William Wordsworth weep. Oh, and that's not even mentioning the 300 feet of ocean frontage and dock.
