Skispotter: Aspen, Colorado's Ski Lift No 1

New, 1 comment

The Curbediverse was dead-on with the first round of Skispotter, Curbed Ski's new weekly guessing game that asks readers to identity old lifts and buildings. As several readers successfully guessed, Aspen's Ski Lift No 1 opened in 1946. It was the longest chairlift in the world and ran until 1971 when it was replaced by two double chairlifts, Shadow Mountain and Ruthie's. Aspen didn't have a gondola until 1986, when the Silver Queen Gondola was installed to take skiers all the way to the summit of Aspen Mountain. And now you know!
