Aspen Skiing Co. just announced plans to replace Snowmass's High Alpine double hair with a high-speed detachable quad chairlift by the 2016-2017 season. The aging chairlift is in need of replacement, but the ski resort also hopes to realign the new Alpine chair to the west so that skiers can stay high and not have to ski down to the Sheer Bliss lift. The plans still need approval from the U.S. Forest Service. [Aspen Times]
