Just in time for late summer vacation daydreaming, ultra-beachy Coastal Living magazine has opened up its 28th annual showhouse in Coronado Beach, Calif., which features the work of interior designers Betsy Burnham and Max Humphrey. As is standard showhouse practice, the place is done up in slightly over-the-top perfection—though this particular faux home is over-the-top in a very Coastal Living way, with a strict palette of reds and blues, a series of bedrooms outfitted like cabin sleeping quarters, and an invariable nautical decor-scheme throughout the formal living room, dining area, and various sitting rooms. "We wanted the house to be like a great outfit that carries from daytime to dinner and after," says Burnham of the five-bedroom, 4,500-square-foot oceanfront estate. "One that works when kids and dogs and sand are underfoot but also sets the stage for everything from beach barbecues to elegant cocktail parties." Take a look, below:
