The owners of Aspen's Molly Gibson Lodge, a budget hotel in the center of town, have submitted an application to tear the building down and replace it with a new hotel development. The new plans consist of 63 hotel rooms (about 10 more than its current capacity) each averaging under 300 square feet, and three free-market residences. Michael and Aaron Brown also own the Hotel Aspen, which just received approval to rebuild as well. [Aspen Daily News]
