IT Offices Shellac Modernism on an Old Lithuanian Building

For the Vilnius offices of Wix, an IT company that specializes in customizable personal websites, Lithuanian firm Inblum Architects ramped up, in equal measure, (1) the history of the building and (2) the glazed modernity (and general flossiness) that's all the rage in the workspaces of tech companies. Here bright white walls, candy-colored curtains, and glass conference rooms headbutt archways of gray stone brick and raw concrete ceilings. While it may not be as crazy as, say, some of Google's office antics—Marge Simpson wigs, slides, and faux orange groves, for example—there's always something fascinating about seeing a peek of a structure's exposed history amidst a slick, minimalist renovation.
