Back in 2012, artist Grayson Perry hatched a plan to build a storybook cottage as an elaborate homage to an imaginary and ordinary Essex woman named Julie. (The idea came from "doodling wildly and quite drunkenly in front of the TV.") In case you were thinking the cottage, to feature a sculpture of Julie on the gables and her likeness on the walls, was to remain an unbuilt folly: don't. Not only was it built, the holiday house will be available for bookings starting spring 2015. [Design Boom; previously]
