Bonkers $21.5M Nantucket Estate Has 117 Listing Pics

New, 5 comments

Although a buyer is in contract to pick up one of Nantucket's priciest pads, a $22.95M Squam abode, the island will not lose its place as home to 14 of the Cape and Islands 25 most expensive listings thanks to this 'Sconset estate which recently debuted on the market with a hefty eight-figure ask. "The Sheiling" sits on four acres at 40, 41 and 43 Ocean Avenue with a total of 19 rooms, eight bedrooms, nine full and four half baths. In addition to the circa 1880 main house with ocean views from almost every room, the property features private beach stairs, a guest house, a two car garage with a studio above, a "bunk house", multiple gardens (hello, privet!), a gunite pool, and a 5,000 bottle wine cellar. The digs, which have more decorative plates displayed than we've ever seen in one home, are glorified with an incredible 117 listing photos. Here now, the edited version:

The sellers are finance/techie guru Rick Sherlund, a buddy of Bill Gates and modern day gold prospector (49er 2.0), and his wife Janet. The Sherlunds, who much to the chagrin of their old-money Nantucket neighbors, once hired Jackson Browne to entertain at an anniversary party, paid $6,800,000 for the spread in 2000 and are now looking to unload for $21,500,000.
