Because all children adore enormous venomous snakes, local firm D'houndt + Bajart Architectes designed this canteen for a local school in Lille, France, to resemble a serpent slithering across the campus. Sheathed in a repeating brick pattern with an angular, undulating roof, the Boa Canteen's exterior is meant to serve as an "organic membrane" and "protective boundary" with "scale-like" windows. Inside, there's a snappy lime cafeteria and a protected courtyard, which houses an educational vegetable garden and a living wall of bamboo.
