These Wild, Morphing Rugs are Home Decor at its Trippiest

By combining traditional Azerbaijani rugs and contemporary sculptural forms, Baku-based artist Faig Ahmed has created a body of work that looks, well, a little bit like a LSD-soaked trip to ABC carpets. "The carpet is the icon of Eastern tradition, it's canonical and has visual boundaries," explains the artist. "My art is directed towards transforming these boundaries beyond any recognition." Instead of morphing existing creations with the help of photoshop, each woolen piece is handmade, with the dripping patterns, wacky colors, and Photoshop liquified look stitched right in. Check out a few, below, then head over to Ahmed's official site for the full collection.
