Salt Lake City just announced a marketing campaign to reposition the state capital as Ski City USA. Not to be confused with Ski Town USA (Steamboat Springs), Ski City USA will spend $1.8 million on a national advertising campaign meant to draw visitors to Salt Lake and to Snowbird, Alta, Brighton, and Solitude. Apparently 50% of respondents in a national poll misidentified the Salt Lake City skyline as Denver. Oof. [Deseret News]
