Motor City's Hecker-Smiley Mansion, a turreted, 49-room chateau known as "one of Detroit's greatest mansions," has, after almost a year, finally sold. Wayne State University dropped $2.3M. on the place, with plans to convert its 21,000 square feet (plus a 5,700-square-foot carriage house) into an alumni relations center. Photos, this way.
