New York Mansion Favored by the Clintons is Heading to Auction

New, 1 comment

After failing to find a buyer at $8.2M, a Lakeside compound in Skaneateles, New York, that Clinton the family stayed at on two occasions is heading to auction on October 25 starting at $3.8M. Bill, Hillary and new mom Chelsea Clinton spent five days there in the fall of 1999, during which time they attended the New York State Fair and visited the Harriet Tubman House in nearby Auburn, and at least one enterprising local sold ''Clinton Go Home'' T-shirts out of the trunk of his car. In the listing photos, pictures of the presidential visit are hung in the sun room of this unloved 11,700-square-foot home. "We'll probably talk about it all year," one local told the NYT back in 1999, scarcely imagining that the visit would be used to try and sell real estate 15 years later.

The Clintons also spent the night at the compound once in 2000, according to Syracuse.com. The listing author also claims a few of the Baldwins have stayed there over the years, presumably while they were in the area visiting their mother. Might this Baldwin coterie have included Stephen??

Aside from knowledge that famous people have been there, this lakeside 10-bedroom from 1987 boasts a boathouse, some exposed beams, and lots of interior stonework.
