Hint: This Groovy Gondola Was in an Iconic Ski Movie

New, 2 comments

Skiing has a long and storied history here in North America, and any die-hard skier can tell you all about the history of their local hill. We're putting your skills to the test with a new series called Skispotter. Each week we'll bring you an old-timey photo of a ski lift, ski area, or lodge building and you- dedicated ski buffs- will guess where it's from. Have an old photo you'd like us to use? Drop us an email, we'd be ever so grateful.

Okay, Skispotters, here goes: This gondola was built in the early 1960s, and has been replaced five times in total (once due to design problems). Its current incarnation is considered iconic. It had a brief role in a classic ski film, and a well-known character actor appeared in a pivotal scene in one of the gondola cars.

Tell us, Curbediverse, who is the actor, at what resort is this gondola located, and in what movie did it appear? Make your guesses in the comments, and don't forget to send us a tip if you have a photo to contribute.
