Patrollers Skied Powder This Morning At Silverton Mountain

All photos courtesy of Silverton Mountain

Ready to be jealous? The ski patrollers at Colorado's Silverton Mountain turned on the chairlift today and got some extra early season powder turns. Known for epic steeps, lots of snow, and its low-key vibe, Silverton tops out as the highest ski area in North America with a peak of 13,487 feet. They are not slated to open until December 20, 2014, but if these storms keep up (and Joel Gratz from Open Snow says another storm is on the way), you can expect the ski area to open early. And don't be skeptical of the September snow, this happened at Silverton last year, too.
