Abandoned Construction Sites Look Like Architectural Ghosts

New, 2 comments

While ruin porn generally seems to take the form of previously bustling centers of commerce or once-stately homes left to crumble, UK-based photographer Sam Laughlin instead choses to document jilted, unfinished construction sites across Europe that never even got the opportunity to flourish and then perish. Perhaps even more melancholy for this reason, his Frameworks series takes a moody, shadowed look at these skeletal building sites with the intention of capturing "architecture paused." "Construction has ceased and we are left with the bones of buildings in stasis," explains Laughlin. "Incomplete for economic and political reasons, they become ruins of modernity."
