Bob Hope's L.A. House Gets Better Photos and New $23M Price

New, 2 comments

It hasn't been smooth sailing for houses of late, great entertainer Bob Hope. His most famous estate, the disc-topped John Lautner design in Palm Springs, roared onto the market (after much anticipation) for $50M and, a year and a half after listing, chopped its price in half. It's still not sold. Hope's other SoCal mansion, which listed in September 2013, isn't faring much better—but there's hope! Its price (which had started at $27M and gone down to as low as $21.8M) has changed to $23M, and the listing just got new staging and a whole new set of photos.

The staging, it's worth nothing, could be a very good thing for the listing if one is to believe the design hearsay: Lautner purportedly disowned the other Hope house because Hope's wife Delores botched the interiors.

Anyway, the story goes that Bob and Delores moved here in 1939, then proceeded to take up the surrounding acreage, "putting down gardens and adding greens and two pools," Curbed LA writes. The estate that stands now measures almost 15,000 square feet and boasts eight bedrooms, huge windows, and loping lawns. Have a look:
