Thom Mayne is Razing Ray Bradbury's House to Build His Own

Big news coming out of Los Angeles: the charming yellow house where esteemed sci-fi writer Ray Bradbury lived in for more than 50 years is officially a teardown. More intriguingly, the person behind it is none other than Pritzker Prize-winning architect Thom Mayne, whose LA-based firm Morphosis has built a number of striking buildings in the area. Curbed LA dug up property records showing that Mayne and his wife purchased the three-bedroom home for $1.765M last year. And according to John King Tarpinian, who took the photo above last week for sci-fi fan hubFile 770, a contractor on the site says the plan is to put in a new house with three underground levels, including one with a swimming pool.
