Fashion designer Alexander Wang is the latest to jump into the furniture game, WSJ. Magazine has exclusively learned. Wang, whose previous decor exploits have involved creating an eight-piece home goods collection and consulting on his first-ever store, will debut a three-piece furniture collection for Italian luxury label Poltrona Frau this February. And like his cult-favorite handbags and boots, black-with-shiny-accents is the law of the land. Just look at that $8,800 brass-footed shearling beanbag this prince of urban grunge is sporting in the photo above.
The other two pieces that came out of this two-year collaboration include a second beanbag in leather and a bar cabinet with jagged brass shelves and luggage-style wheels. "Over the last 10 years, furniture is where my interest has really evolved," Wang told WSJ. And as it turns out, that means giving banal things like beanbag chairs the street-cool, luxe treatment...for prices every bit as absurd as his $1,000 neck pillow>.
