The O'Neill Building, located at the corner of Sixth Avenue and West 20th Street in Chelsea, is a stone cold stunner when it comes to historic cast iron buildings, so when Bade Stageberg Cox Architecture was hired to redesign a condo inside, they wanted to do the building justice. Jane Stageberg told New York Magazine that the existing unit "was fine," but the family wanted more bedrooms and a better connection to the neighborhood. The exposed interior cast iron columns provided inspiration, and the design team "took care in the new layout so that [they] could expose those columns and reveal them in strategic places."
