This May Be the Country's Prettiest Shipping Container Home

New, 5 comments

Structures built from shipping containers have become downright ubiquitous as of late, popping up in the form of libraries, artist communes, and even an inevitable mansion. Toy designer Debbie Glassberg became inspired to build her own residence from shipping containers after a trip to Guangzhou, China five years ago, when she passed by a facility that was manufacturing them. For her own 2,600-square-foot home in Kansas City, Missouri, she combined five shipping containers with glass walls to create a two-story residence. But the industrial look was not what she was going for: Glassman painted the deeply grooved walls a cheery Tiffany blue, covered the ceiling with unique white-patterned panels, and filled the open-plan living areas with pastel-colored furniture.
