You Can Now Tour Ellis Island Without Getting On a Boat

The National Park Service has launched a virtual tour of Ellis Island's south side, where some of the landmark's so-called "seldom seen spaces" are located. The website includes more than 40 interactive spherical photographs in stunning clarity, covering buildings, landscapes, and other spaces rarely, if ever, seen by the public, including the abandoned hospitals. Though the highlight is the south side of Ellis Island, the tour starts in front of the Great Hall, with its Guastavino tile ceiling.
