While some are rushing to preemptively ban drones before they swarm the air over ski areas, another cohort sees opportunity in a managed approach toward drones. A group of resorts — Winter Park, Copper Mountain, Powder Mountain, Homewood and Fernie, to start — have partnered with a company called Cape Productions to offer finished drone videos to skiers. In the model of the on-mountain professional photography companies that dot the slopes of some resorts, Cape will have one of its autonomous drones set to follow you on a designated run. Then its team of video editors will take over to deliver the final product. We can't wait to see 360-degree aerial footage of Jerry this season.
