Designed by Portuguese leisure and vacation design, engineering, and marketing firm Friday, the "Floatwing" floating cabin is a 19-foot-long boathouse that can be expanded from one to three bedrooms for a romantic getaway, trip with friends, or more. Fitted with two exterior motors, the house can travel up to a leisurely 3 knots (that's a little over 3 miles an hour, for us land folks). The size of the unit—and the modularity of its components—means that it can be couriered via shipping container to any destination and constructed on-site. For the design savvy, an added bonus is its gorgeous plywood-lined interiors, which, thanks to broad glass windows, are also awash in sunlight on bright days.
