French artist Thierry Cohen seeks to display what major cities across the globe would look like lit only by starlight in his series Villes éteintes (Darkened Cities), which pairs altered photos of the cities taken during the day with skies in places where you can actually see the stars, like Montana and the Western Sahara. The resulting images are undoubtedly beautiful, but still seem, if you ask us, a little too well lit. We've created some renderings of our own to give another look at what some of these cities would look like without man-made light.
