Located just 25 minutes north of New York City, the Hudson River hamlet of Palisades, NY (once known as Snedens Landing) is a favorite retreat of artists and celebrities. On a list of notable residents that includes Al Pacino, Bill Murray, and Björk, one will also find Angelina Jolie Pitt, whose mother, Marcheline Bertrand moved there from L.A. in the '80s after splitting from actor Jon Voight. Along with her mother and brother, Jolie Pitt lived in a 1958-built midcentury modern home on two private acres.
