After Mammoth Resorts threw down $38 million to buy Bear Mountain and Snow Summit, the Southern California resorts are seeing $2 million in upgrades ahead of their first full winter as part of the Mammoth family. Improvements include new dining options, amenities and snow-making infrastructure.
The summit of Snow Summit is getting a new restaurant. Previously called Summit Haus, its replacement will roast a whole hog every day as part of its open-pit rotisserie barbecue setup. Local craft beers will be available at the full bar, and a new deck on the building's north side will offer lake views for kicking back with a draught.
Snow Summit is also set to debut a new snow tubing park, which will apparently be open day and right. So just drop off the kiddos and come back later that day, we guess.
Both resorts will see some dining changes in their base areas, with Snow Summit getting a coffee and smoothie bar and Bear Mountain seeing a new restaurant opening in the "learn to" area. The learning center, rental fleets and snow-making infrastructure will be upgraded for both resorts, as well.
No word on whether Mammoth still wants to tie these two resorts together.
Snow Summit and Bear Mountain are looking to open in late November.
