Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows Joins Resorts Hiking Pay

Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows is increasing its base pay for certain positions and creating a way for them to quickly earn a raise. Entry-level kids ski school instructors at Squaw-Alpine will be starting at $12 per hour plus incentive pay. While it's not as broad as some other ski resort wage hikes this year, Squaw-Alpine says that puts them ahead of the rates other Tahoe resorts are offering for the same position. To further sweeten the pot, the resort will fast track certifications for instructors that will bump them to $14 per hour. Squaw-Alpine will also be offering free bus passes for employees and free weekend shuttles between the resort and Reno. To help with housing, the resort is offering season passes to area residents who put up employees. Locals interested in the deal can contact the resort's human resources department directly. Job fairs are scheduled for Oct. 24 and Nov. 7 at Olympic House in Olympic Valley.
