Utah skiers and snowboarders rejoice: the state just received its first significant snowstorm of the season. Resorts across the state reported substantial accumulations over the last 48 hours, with Alta reporting 19 inches, Snowbird recording 17 inches, and Eagle Point clocking in at 14 inches. Much of the west is in a nice early-season weather pattern, allowing Mammoth Mountain and resorts in Lake Tahoe to open early. According to meteorologist Evan Thayer, Utah can expect more storms next week, setting things up nicely for when resorts start opening the weekend of November 20.
