The creators of the Hummingbird folding bike claim that the idea came to them when they were looking for a folding bike that weighed less than 12 kilograms, and couldn't find one, so they decided to make their own that weighs nearly half that. The resulting Hummingbird is a minuscule 6.5 kilograms—less than a single watermelon—and is so light that even a child can pick it up. (No, that's not the inventor in the above picture.)
