Video game developer/space tourist Richard Garriott has a plan to solve Austin's transit problems by developing a Personal Rapid Transit System, which would essentially consist of a track with automated single-person pods. It sounds like the type of thing that only a video game developer/space tourist could come up with and—oh, wait, what's that? An Italian engineer and industrial designer is trying to do the same thing in Europe, with pods that would zoom around on actual roads? And "a few German cities, and one Lithuanian one, are potential civic partners?" Okay, guess this is a thing now.
